In this session we want to explore the excesses and problems of inequality and its intersections from a theoretical and more practical perspective. This means that the session will address the ever-growing gap between rich and poor. But inequality not only manifests itself in the gap between haves and have nots but also in other injustices and inequalities such as race/ethnicity, gender, (neo)colonial practices, … and has harmful side effects such as on climate.
On the other hand, the session will also delve deeper into practice: how to deal with those intersections where inequalities meet in day-to-day reality. For example, some forces play into ‘false’ competition between e.g. ‘coloured’ versus ‘white’ poverty. How do you build alliances to address inequalities together? How do we transcend the sometimes paralyzing feeling of intersectionality? And what does that mean for an international narrative?
